Yoga Retreat ~ West Sussex, 2nd - 5th April 2009

You are invited to enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating 3 days of yoga at Duncton Mill, West Sussex. Duncton Mill is a beautiful retreat centre nestled at the foot of the South Downs, within an hours reach of London. Surrounded by peaceful lakes, extensive woodland and an organic farm, it is only a short distance from the South Downs Way...perfect for walking and exploring the local area.

An opportunity to deepen your practice or begin yoga for the first time in a calm, peaceful & natural environment conducive to relaxation, rejuvenation and unwinding. We will also be exploring 'The Enneagram' as an additional tool to gaining self-knowledge of ourselves and the understanding of the journey from personality to Self.

There is only ever one group in residence, so we will have the intimacy, peace & quiet of Duncton Mill all to ourselves over the 4 days. Our own private sanctuary!

Various therapies will also be available...so you can treat yourself to some love & nurturing during your stay!

The retreat will show you the possibility of extending yogic practices and awareness into your everyday life. Applying yoga in this way can make your day to day activities more fulfilling and less stressful. Students of all levels of experience welcome.

Accommodation & Facilities

The accommodation is very comfortable and of a high standard, accomodating groups of up to 18.

The resident chef provides truly delicious and imaginative vegetarian food, with a strong emphasis on the use of local, seasonal and organic produce to create beautiful vegetarian food of the highest standard. Main meals will be eaten together in the dining room of the farmhouse with its wonderful refectory table which seats 20 people.

The retreat centre consists of a large farmhouse, cottages and barns, set around a natural stream-fed trout pond on a site of outstanding natural beauty. The site also benefits from an outdoor swimming pool.

All cottages are designed to be self-contained and include a sitting room, a fully equipped kitchen, wood-burning stove, TV, video, washing and drying machine. In other words, a complete house. Even a torch by the front door! Each of the cottages has its own traditional and individual character.

There are two warm, light, flexible and well equipped workshop spaces and ample, well fitted bathrooms with plenty of hot water. The whole hamlet in quintessentially English.

Both Mike and Barbara, who run Duncton Mill, are experienced teachers themselves and pride themselves on providing a venue fully equipped for the needs of teachers of a great number of therapies.

Duncton Mill was voted 1 of the top 10 favourite healthy retreat venues by Caroline Sylge of the Guardian newspaper: http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2007/may/12/saturday.healthandfitness

Retreat Leader

Abhijeeta will be leading the yoga retreat. Abhijeeta's style of teaching is true to the Satyananda tradition, focusing on the meditative and spiritual aspects of yoga and incorporating the whole person, not just the physical body. There is an emphasis on awareness and students are encouraged to learn about all aspects of their personality through yoga. Read more about Abhijeeta.
